The 5 Step Gifted Education Equity (GEE) Plan

The 5 Step GEE Plan can be used by parents, students, and teachers of Black and racially diverse gifted students.

Step 1- Complete the GEE Data Gather & Assessment Tool (DGAT).

Step 2- Initial Consulting Session (60 min.)

Step 3- Develop a Personalized Plan of Action (PPA).

Step 4- M-Power the Parent™ Gifted Education: Questions at Issue

The tasks in Steps 3 and 4 require follow up consulting sessions, Critical Conversations, in order to develop a Personalized Plan of Action (PPA)

Additional Two (2) 30-minute consulting sessions *not to be used consecutively are included in the GEE 5 Step Plan for this purpose

The GEE 5 Step Plan is the flagship program for Gifted Education Equity Enterprises, LLC. The plan was designed be a resource tool for parents of gifted students in traditionally underrepresented populations. The plan is part of the M-Power the Parent™ Program Series and provides the opportunity for both parents and their student to collaborate in developing the plan.

Step 1- Complete the GEE Data Gather & Assessment Tool (DGAT). It is a comprehensive online assessment tool to be used for identifying and referring Black and racially diverse students for gifted and academically accelerated courses. Can be completed by parent, student, or another educational advocate (2 maximum).

The DGAT is comprised of 3 sections:

  • Section 1: General Information

  • Section 2: General Characteristics of Gifted & Talented Students

  • Section 3: Observed Behaviors

After you register and purchase the plan, you will receive an email containing the link to complete the GEE Data Gathering & Assessment Tool (DGAT).

 After you complete and submit the DGAT, we will schedule the initial 60-minute consulting session, Critical Conversations, based on available dates and times.

Step 2- Initial Consulting Session to analyze and discuss information from DGAT. Students are highly encouraged to attend the session. These sessions are called Critical Conversations and in conjunction with the GEE Critical Thinking Initiative (CTI) 2030.

After you complete and submit the DGAT, we will schedule the initial 60-minute consulting session, Critical Conversations, based on available dates and times.

Step 3- Develop a Personalized Plan of Action (PPA). This is step best suited for collaboration & student input. The student component is the Trending Genius™ Individual Talent & Development Plan (ITDP). 

Step 3 actually occurs during consulting session, Critical Conversations. The information gathered from the DGAT will be a primary resource used to develop the necessary plan of action. It is for this reason that students are encouraged to attend the initial session. Students attending the consulting session are required to complete the Trending Genius™ Individual Talent & Development Plan (ITDP). 

The ITDP is an online self-evaluation tool to be completed by the student. It consists of 3 Sections:

  • Section 1: General Information / Interest Ranking

  • Section 2: Critical Thinking Evaluation Tool

  • Section 3: Additional Comments *optional/not required

Step 4- M-Power the Parent™ Gifted Education: Questions at Issue- Part 1 General Information. This tool is for use when meeting with school and district contact person for gifted education. This tool is specially designed to help parents ask the right questions to gather necessary data to address issues of inequity in gifted programs and advanced academic courses.

After you purchase the GEE 5 Step Plan, you will have immediate access to this document.

Step 5- GEE Task Force Membership (1 year free) . The Gifted Education Equity (GEE) Task Force is comprised of advocates for equity in gifted education for students of underrepresented populations. The GEE Task Force will help to gather the research and data about gifted education equity in your state and school district. Every parent is invited to join the GEE Task Force.
